Studying in Japan - OUTGOING

These pages only apply to students and researchers from TU Wien who want to study at one of our Japanese partner universities. Applicants who are interested in studying at other institutions can apply at the International Office of TU Wien.

General Information

Most scholarships for students going to Japan support mainly conducting research (not attending lectures). Therefore, in case of an application, a “research plan” is requested even in case of a diploma work. The contents and quality of this plan is decisive for the selection of candidates.

The majority of scholarships are non-degree which means that an academic title is granted in Austria, not in Japan. The preparatory research is conducted in Japan, while the final degree is awarded in Austria. In case of a Degree-scholarship the complete Master- or PhD-program has to be passed in Japan.

To apply for one of the listed scholarships the applicants must be officially enrolled at TU Wien for at least 2 years and provide a consolidated grade record with an average grade of 2.5 or better. Only students in Master or PhD programs are eligible for the scholarships offered below.
